Analysis of the value of routine blood test in the differential diagnosis of thalassemia and iron deficiency anemia

Objective:To explore the value of routine blood testing in the differential diagnosis of thalassemia and iron deficiency anemia.Methods:Using a retrospective analysis method,80 patients with anemia who were admitted to our hospital from February 2019 to February 2020 were randomly selected as the research objects.The patients were divided into thalassemia group and iron deficiency anemia group according to the type of anemia.There were 40 patients in each group.At the same time,40 subjects who received physical examination in our hospital at the same time were randomly selected as the control group.The three groups of subjects all underwent routine blood tests,and compared the results of the examinations on the average red blood cell volume(MCV),red blood cell volume distribution width(RDW),and average red blood cell hemoglobin volume(MCH).Results:Compared with the control group,the thalassemia group and iron-deficiency anemia group had significant differences in various indicators,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).There is no statistically significant difference in MCH between the thalassemia group and the iron deficiency anemia group,P>0.05,the MCV and RDW indexes of iron deficiency anemia will be significantly higher than that of thalassemia,while the MCHC index will be significantly lower than that of thalassemia.Learning is meaningful,P<0.05.Conclusion:Routine blood test results can be used as a reference for the differential diagnosis of thalassemia and iron deficiency anemia,and it has the advantages of simple operation and rapid detection,and is worthy of clinical promotion.
