Abstract:Objective To investigate the effect of 90Sr-90Y on cell proliferation and apoptosis in benign prostatic hyperplasia. Methods The apoptosis and expression of Ki-67 in benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) before and after irradiation 90Sr-90Y were detected by transferase-mediated dUTP-biotin nick end labeling (TUNEL) method and immunohistochemical technique, respectively. Results The proliferation index (PI) of BPH after 90Sr-90Y irradiation was much lower than that before irradiation, but there was no significant change in apoptosis index (AI). Conclusion Irradiation with 90Sr-90Y could restrain cell proliferation of BPH, but could not induce apoptosis.
