Vitamin D nutritional status and related factors among elderly inpatients

Nowadays, vitamin D deficiency is particularly common all over the world, especially in elderly inpatients that often suffered from bedridden, diseases and medications. Recent studies showed that vitamin D deficiency in elderly inpatients was inconsistent with that in communities in many aspects such as season,gender,age, region and diet. But the same for them is that vitamin D deficiency exsiting signifcant correaltion with the time for outdoor activities and weight status. For example, vitamin D deficiency is negative related with obesity, but positive related with excessive emaciation. So it is important to discover vitamin D deficiency or inadequacy and take effective measurements to improve vitamin D nutritional status in elderly inpatients,which plays a role in preventing the occurrence of osteoporosis and other vitamin D deficiency related diseases.
