| Abstract: | In recent years, Alzheimer's disease has represented "type 3 diabetes mellitus (T3DM)".T3DM corresponds to brain insulin deficiency and insulin resistance that is similar to the pathogenesis of diabetes. Diabetes mellitus may "transmit" insulin resistance from peripheral tissue to central nervous system via a"liver-brain axis" to promote the development of cognitive impairment. Thus diabetes is an important risk factor of Alzheimer's disease. And it is likely that the function of "transmission" has existed at the stage of pre-diabetes--impaired glucose regulation. The strategy of improving insulin resistance has provided a new direction to prevent and cure cognitive impairment. |
