Abstract:Possible opiate-ethanol interaction was studied in five selected stable non-alcoholic chronic methadone-maintained patients. Ethanol and methadone levels were determined during oral methadone, ethanol and combined methadone-ethanol tolerance tests. The data do not suggest a significant acute interaction between ethanol and methadone as reflected by the rates of disappearance in the blood.
