Abstract:Experiments were performed on 58 urethane anesthetized rats.Effects of electric stimulation of paraventricular nucleus(PVN) on the unit discharges of amygdanoid body(ADB), blood pressure and heart rate in rats were observed The results are as follows;(1) Electric stimulation of the PVN led to increase in blood pressure and heart rate in rats(P<0.00l).(2) Microinjection of lidocaine into the ADB before stimulation partially blocked the pressor and tachycardia responses induced by electric stimulation of the PVN(P<0.0l).(3) Both electric current and hypertonic saline stimulation of the PVN increase mainly the discharge frequency of the ADB units.The results revealed that the pressor response induced by electric stimulation of PVN might be carried out partially by action of the ADB.The action of ADB might be related to release of AVP in the PVN
