Study on Correlation between the K1 Subtypes of Human Herpesvirus-8 and different sites of Squamous Cell Carcinoma

Objective To study the infected situation of human herpesvirus 8 in cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma and esophageal squamous cell carcinoma, and investigate whether HHV-8 K1 played a part in development of cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma and esophageal squamous cell carcinoma. Methods HHV-8 KI DNA were amplified by nested-PCR and sequenced from clinical 80 cases paraffin-embedded tissue in Xinjiang. The phylogenefic analysis was carried out by using Lagergene, CLUSTAL W and PHYLIP software packages, and then the K1 subtype was confirmed. Correlations between different clinics of HHV-8 K1 was detected in 9 (22.5%) of 40 cases cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma and 8 (20%) of 40 cases esophageal squamous cell carcinoma, But there was no significant difference for infecting HHV-8 besquamous cell carcinoma of skin infection HHV-8 K1 cases, one case was analyzed belong to A subtype, 8 cases were analyzed belong to C subtype; For esophageal squamous cell carcinoma infection of HHV-8 K1 cases, two cases were belong to A subtype, six cases were belong to C subtype, no other subtypes were found. Conclusions There was no significant correlation between different sites of squamous cell carcinoma and HHV-8 K1 subtypes.
