Abstract: | The data obtained from 2,272 random biopsies performed on cystocopically normal mucosa in 457 cases of primary bladder tumors, that did not undergo any previous treatment, are present. Dysplasia was found in 119 cases (26.04%) and carcinoma in situ in 100 cases (21.88%). The relationship between cancer in situ and tumoral grade was: G1, 4 of 76 (5.26%); G2, 33 of 225 (14.66%), and G3, 58 of 152 (38.16%). The relationship between cancer in situ and tumoral stage for superficial tumors (pTa-pT1) was 52 of 314 (16.56%), and for deep tumors (pT2, pT3, pT4), 42 of 109 (38.53%). In this least group of 109 cases, 53 cystectomies were performed and the diagnosis obtained by random biopsy and mapping of the surgical sample were correlated. A coincidence in both techniques was found in 77.36% of the cases. |
