Abstract: | IntroductionThe muscle oxygenation profile determined with the technique of near infrared spectroscopy was used to assess the muscle oxygen utilization kinetics at the onset of exercise.SynthesisThe mean response time of the muscle deoxygenation increase was not modified by hyperoxia (19.6 ± 2.3 s in hyperoxia versus 20.6 ± 2.8 s in normoxia, NS).ConclusionThis result suggests that hyperoxia did not induce any acceleration of the oxygen utilization kinetic at the muscle level and that the oxygen delivery to muscle is not the limiting factor of this kinetic. |
