Progress in the relationship between active vitamin D3 and diabetic nephropathy

Diabetic nephropathy is a major complication of diabetes mellitus, and becomes one of the leading causes of death in the end- stage renal disease. There are no effective preventions and treatments. Studies have shown that active vitamin D3 has a protective effect on the kidneys, and its mechanism may be through anti-inflammation and anti-fibrosis. In this paper, the recent research at home and abroad on effect of active vitamin D3 on diabetic nephropathy protection mechanisms and clinical treatment is analyzed. It is important to look for new methods for prevention and treatment of diabetic nephropathy.
