CRYPTOCOCCUS NEOFORMANS VAR S8012 CAUSED MENINGITIS

A new Strain of cryptococcus neoformans VarShanghaiensis 8012 is repiorted. In its parasiticstate, the special features are bacilli, needle,gourd, round, oval and shuttle forms and bla-stospores appear simultaneously. It produces a very thick capsule in thetissues and is pathogenic to humans and animals.Observations of 10 cultures, and 4 physiologicdeterminatioins and animal tests through 3 gene-rations o,f this new strain confirmed that thementioned feat.ures are all stable.
