Tinnitus efficacy of different treatment programs

OBJECTIVE To explore an effective tinnitus treatment program through the retrospective study of the ef·cacy of different treatment methods on tinnitus. METHODS The inclusion criteria was set according to the present course of conventional treatment and assessment model. 396 cases of tinnitus patients who consulted the tinnitus clinic from November 2008 to June 2009 in Yueyang Hospital of Integrated Traditional and Western Medicine affiliated with Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine were studied,accounting for 64.81% of tinnitus patients（396/611）. The efficacy of treatment was analyzed and evaluated in each group by tinnitus patients＇t assessment. RESULTS One week after treatment the group A and group D got the best results,with effective rate of 51.72% and 62.22% respectively. After 3 weeks＇ treatment,the effective rate of groups B and C were 53.78% and 69.64% respectively,ef·cacy markedly improved. The improvement of group A and group D was not obvious. After 5 weeks＇ treatment,the efficiency of group D and E was significantly higher than that of other groups,86.67% and 80% respectively. The efficiency of group A even declined. CONCLUSION Chinese traditional medicine and western medicine combining with full dose and course of standardized treatment can get satis·ed effect; Joint acoustic treatment can further improve the ef·cacy of tinnitus treatment.
