Abstract: | A comprehensive program focused on foot-specific patient education, skin and nail care, and protective footwear lowers the
incidence of diabetic foot ulcers and lower extremity amputations. Orthopedic or podiatric consultations are warranted for
those “at risk” or with foot ulcers.
