| Abstract: | ABSTRACT This paper reviews research which has a bearing upon an understanding of the ametropias. The role of the retinal image as a modifying influence in a feedback mechanism exerting some control over emmetropisation is discussed. The concept of a genetic predisposition to environmental factors is developed and a plea is made for more research to aid the clinician in his management of refractive errors. |
