Measurement of reverse triodothyronine in material serum and amniotic fluid and its correlation with fetal lung maturity

Abstract:	Amniotic Fluid reverse T₃ (AFrT₃) was measured and it was correlated with serum (maternal) rT₃ levels as well as with L/S ratio. No significant correlation was found between maternal serum rT₃ and L/S ratio. Similarly no correlation was found between AFrT₃ and maternal rT₃. It is concluded that AFrT₃ level is not a good marker for antenatal detection of fetal hypothyroidism.
