Abstract: | Functional voice disorders (FVDs) are common. The diagnostic criteria for six types of FVD and the results of treatment in a large series of patients are reported. Voice therapy was effective in 69% of the patients. Failure of voice therapy usually correlated with continued tobacco use, noncompliance with therapy, or premature termination of therapy. |
