Abstract:Objective To investigate the serum SIL-2R content in the patients with epilepsy and its clinical relevance. Method The concentrations of serum SIL-2R of 158 epileptics were measured with ELISA. Results The levels of serum SIL-2R of epileptics were higher than that of controls (P <0. 05) without the gender difference in the epileptics (P >0. 05). The patients with grand mal, psychomotor fit, infantile spasme and status epilepticus had higher levels of serum SIL-2R then control group (P <0. 05 or P <0. 01). There was no difference in levels of serum SIL--ZR between the patients with other epileptic types and control group (P >0. 05). The patients with primary epilepsy without taking AEDs had higher levels of serum SIL-2R than control group (P <0. 01) but in the patients with secondary epilepsy the levels of SIL-2R were not higher or lower than that of control group (P >0. 05). When epilepsy was controlled with AEDs treatment, the patients had lowered levels of serum SIL-2R without difference with control group (P >0. 05). Conclusions Serum SIL--ZR can become a new direction in researching epileptic pathogenesis and a new marker in monitoring epileptic changes.
Keywords:Epilepsy SIL-2R
