Abstract:Near Infrared Spectroscopy (NIRS) is a noninvasive optical diagnostic technique. Since it was reported in 1977,NIRS has been steadily improved and widely used in clinical medicine and research work.It shows dirdectly the changes of HbO 2,HbR HbT and Cytaa3 in the brain.These data reflect the state of cerebral oxygenation and intracellular oxidative phosphorylation. NIRS provides us a useful means to monitor the changes of cerebral hemodynamics and cellular metabolism in fetus, neonates and adults. Today, multichannel optical imaging and functional imaging of human brain activities have been developed.
