DNA Vaccine and its Applications

DNA vaccine,a kind of new vaccine developed in 90's,and its application was introduced.The essential method of DNA vaccine is first to clone the foreign gene which encode for an antigen or an epitope of the antigen into the eukaryotic expression vector.Then by the method of direct DNA injection,the recombined plasmid DNA is transfered into the organism and expresses the foreign gene in vivo.Because of the stimulation of the produced antigen protein to immunological system,immunological response can be induced.Similar to the traditional vaccine,DNA vaccine not only can induce the cellular but also the humoral immunological response. Compared with the traditional vaccine,DNA vaccine has the following advantages;(1)It can produce highly specified immunological response.(2)It can induce the cellular and the humoral immunololgical response.(3)The effect of DNA vaccine can last for a long time.(4)The method of DNA vaccine is simple and cheap.This method has been used in many respects and may become an effective way to defend diseases.
