| Abstract: | Hepatic damage in 505 cases of chronic cholecystitis was observed and the results showed that certain patients had hepatomegaly (15.45%), biliary cirrhosis (5.15%) , serum bilirubin elevations(36.07%), serum albumin decreases (42.35%), and transient serum ALT elevations(42.36%). Pathological changes in 38 liver tissue biopsies were characterized by turbid degenerations of hepatocytes(92.1%), infiltrations of inflammatory cells in liver lobule and portal biliary areas (89.5%), liver tubercular hyperplasia (13.2%),and hepatocytic necrosis (5.3%).Biliary stagnation, hepatic lipoidosis and dilation of liver sinuses were 2.6% respectively. The present investigation suggests that the liver may be involved in chronic cholecystitis, especially during the onset stage of the disease. |
