The effect of endoscopic sinus surgery combined with glucocorticoids in the treatment of nasal polyps

Objective To observe the effect of endoscopic sinus surgery combined with glucocorticoids(budesonide suspension for inhalation combined with methylprednisolone tablets)in the treatment of nasal polyps.Methods A total of 42 patients with nasal polyps were randomly divided into control group and observation group,with 21 cases in each group.Both groups received endoscopic sinus surgery.Patients in the control group were treated with astemizole during the perioperative period,and patients in the observation group were treated with budesonide suspension for inhalation combined with methylprednisolone tablets during the perioperative period.The therapeutic effect of the two groups was compared.Results In the observation group,9 cases were cured,8 cases were markedly effective,3 cases were general,and 1 case was ineffective,with total effective rate as 80.95%(17/21);in the control group,4 cases were cured,6 cases were markedly effective,9 cases were general,and 2 cases were ineffective,with total effective rate as 47.62%(10/21).The total effective rate of the observation group was higher than that of the control group,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion During endoscopic nasal surgery,perioperative treatment with inhaled budesonide suspension combined with methylprednisolone tablets can achieve ideal results in patients with nasal polyps and is worthy of clinical promotion.
