THE INFLUENCE OF WATER QUALITY ON THE EFFICACY OF DISINFECTION OF DRINKING WATER BY PERACETIC ACID |

| Abstract: | The influences of various factors such as turbidity, pH and temperature on the efficacy of disinfection of drinking water by peracetie acid were studied in laboratory. The results showed that when 10 ppm peracetic acid solution with a 10 min contact time was used, the higher the turbidity of water, the lower the killing rate of E. coli. The efficacy of peracetic acid disinfection greatly decreased when the pH value was higher than 9, and increased while the temperature was raised from 0～4℃ to 15～20℃. When the natural clean water was treated, the number of coli-group could be reduced to less than 3/L after exposure to 20 ppm peracetic acid for 10 min. |
