Abstract:Abstract: Objective To evaluate the relationship between the vaginal microecology and HPV infection as accumulating evidence indicates that the vaginal microecology may play a critical role in the susceptibility to Human Papillomavirus ( HPV)infection. Methods A total of 1 000 women aged between 30 and 65 years who underwent physical examination in the Women Health Care Department of Chongqing Maternal and Child Health - Care Hospital from June 2019 to December 2019 was enrolled in our study. Participants were routinely tested for the vaginal microecology and HPV genotyping. Thereafter they were divided into the following two groups according to the results of HPV screening: 1. HPV positive group ( HPV + group,n =235) ; 2. HPV negative group ( HPV - group,n = 765) . The Chi - square test was used to investigate the difference in thevaginal microecology between HPV + women and HPV - women. Results We found a higher rate of vaginal pH value > 4. 5( 57. 87% vs 35. 16% ,OR = 2. 05,95% CI = 1. 22 - 2. 87) ,a higher prevalence of bacterial vaginosis ( 15. 74% vs 9. 41% ,OR = 2. 23,95% CI = 1. 34 - 3. 15) ,a higher rate of abnormal vaginal flora density ( 63. 40% vs 33. 07% ,OR = 1. 94,95%CI = 1. 32 - 2. 56) and a higher rate of?abnormalvaginal flora diversity ( 65. 53% vs 31. 37% ,OR = 1. 89,95% CI = 1. 12 -2. 63) in the group of HPV + women compared to the HPV - group, and there were statistically significant differences. However, no difference was observed in the prevalence of trichomonas vaginitis and vulvovaginal candidiasis between the two groups. Conclusion Vaginal microecology has a significant association with HPV infection. A high vaginal pH value,BV andan abnormal vaginal flora density and diversity increase the susceptibility to HPV infection.
