Clinical feasibility study of argon ion coagulation in the treatment of gastric antral vascular ectasia

Objective To investigate the clinical safety and effectiveness of endoscopic argon ion coagulation(APC)in the treatment of Gastric Antral Vascular Ectasia(GAVE).Methods From January 2016 to April 2020,4 patients with GAVE were selected from Air Force Medical Center,PLA,Beijing,China.All patients were treated with APC.Pay close attention to whether there is gastrointestinal bleeding,perforation,infection,etc.Endoscopic treatment related complications,follow-up fecal occult blood,hemoglobin levels and endoscopic performance before and after the treatment of dilated blood vessels,comprehensively evaluate the safety and effectiveness of APC in the treatment of GAVE.Results The endoscopic APC treatment of 4 patients with GAVE was successfully completed,the cure rate was 100%(4/4),and there were no complications such as intraoperative and postoperative bleeding,perforation,and infection.Long-term follow-up after operation,the longest follow-up time is currently 3 years,fecal occult blood has turned negative,hemoglobin level has risen to more than 100g/l and stabilized,and mucosal repair is intact after endoscopic treatment.Conclusion APC has a significant clinical effect in the treatment of GAVE,is safe and reliable,has good clinical feasibility,and may become the preferred treatment for GAVE.
