Abstract: | Familial Mediterranean fever is a hereditary disease characterizedby recurrent attacks of fever and serosal inflammation thatcommonly presents as severe abdominal pain. Though colchicineremains the mainstay of treatment, a significant proportionof patients are partially responsive, unresponsive or intolerantto it. We present two such cases where spinal cord stimulation(SCS) was used to manage the paroxysmal abdominal pain associatedwith this disease. Abdominal visceral pain pathways and theapplication of SCS techniques in its management are discussed. |
