| Abstract: | The synthesis of thymidines selectively dansylated in the 3'- and 5'-positions is reported. The biological investigation showed that these fluorescent nucleosides behave as competitive inhibitors of thymidine kinase (TK) from herpes simplex virus (HSV) and are endowed with a certain degree of antiviral activity against HSV-2 and HSV-1. |
