Abstract:Objective To explore the application of real - time three - dimensional echocardiography ( RT - 3DE) in diagnosis of endocardial cushion defect (ECD) . Methods Thirty - two patients with ECD were examined by conventional two - dimensional echocardiographic(2DE) and RT-3DE,the results were compared with surgery. Results All the patients were got satisfactory imaging, through revolving and cutting manipulate, the stereoscopical structure of atrial septum , interventricular septum, growth of atrioventricular septum and information of blood flow were displayed. RT- 3DE was more direct, overall, accurate than conventional 2DE. Compared with surgical results, there were 4 cases misdiagnosed by conventional 2DE. The sensitivity and specificity of 2DE in daignossis of mitral leaflet cleft were 92% and 91% , while the sensitivity and specificity of RT -3DE were 100%, 100%. There was significant difference between the two methods (P 〈 0.05 ). Conclusion RT -3DE is more direct, overall, accurate than conventional 2DE to display and diagnose stereoscopical structure of atrioventricular septmn, growth of atrioventricular septum and information of blood flow.
