Abstract: | The interest in AMPA glutamate receptors has grown enormously in recent years, due to their crucial role in physiological and pathological processes. This led to the development of AMPA ligands as research tools and potential therapeutic agents. In particular, extensive work was addressed towards the development of selective antagonists, which proved to be particularly useful in the prevention and treatment of a variety of neurological and non-neurological diseases. This review focuses on the primary and patent literature from 2000 onwards. |
