Professor LI Zhidao's clinical experience on treating headache by meridian differentiation

The theory of dividing meridians is widely used in the diagnosis and treatment of clinical miscellaneous diseases of traditional Chinese medicine. Firstly, this paper introduces the theoretical origin of treating headache by dividing meridians in past dynasties, and points out that there are defects in the principle of selecting acupuncture points in the chapter of headache in acupuncture textbooks by analyzing the theory of meridian circulation, and further discusses that the application of dividing meridians in treating headache in acupuncture should be different from the application of medicine returning to meridians, which should not only consider the application value of special medicine returning to meridians in selecting acupuncture points according to meridians, but also recognize the complexity of meridian system in different parts of the head. This paper also introduces Professor LI Zhidao''s experience of treating headache by acupuncture and medicine combined with meridian division, which is supported by an empirical case, providing a new idea for treating headache by meridian division in clinic.
