Standardized procedures for pathological diagnosis of frozen section of early lung adenocarcinoma

The accurate diagnosis for frozen sections of early lung adenocarcinoma with ground glass nodules as imaging manifestations is crucial for choosing appropriate procedures during surgery. However, due to various reasons pathologists sometimes could not to make a clear diagnosis of adenocarcinoma in situ or microinvasive adenocarcinoma, and tended to give an upgraded diagnosis. The accurate diagnosis of the frozen sections not only relies on the master of diagnostic criteria, but is also related to various factors, including the tissue extraction, slice preparation, imaging reference, and frozen diagnosis in which the pathologists and technicians were involved. After optimizing each steps, we have formulated a set of standardized procedures for intraoperative diagnosis of frozen sections for early lung adenocarcinoma. In this article we introduce these standardized procedures to share with domestic colleagues.
