S.H.A.R.E.

This paper presents a Canadian community hospital program for reducing health care costs and improving patient care associated with substance abuse. A case study is presented that illustrates the workings of the S.H.A.R.E. program, including medical staff education, patient identification and assessment, and referral to community treatment services.
