| Abstract: | The death of a newborn infant is a traumatic event for families. Professionals who care for critically ill newborns can have significant impact on how the family copes with this loss. Aspects of social work role in (1) the care of the family at the time of death; (2) their follow-up care; and (3) staff education and support are discussed. |
