Clinical Observation on Xiakucao Decoction in the Treatment of Elderly Senile Hypertension

Objective To explore the curative effect of Chinese medicine Xiakucao decoction on elderly patients with hypertension.Methods 80 elderly patients with hypertension in our hospital were selected.According to different treatment methods,they were divided into observation group and control group,with 40 cases in each group.The control group was treated with conventional western medicine,and the observation group was treated with western medicine and Xiakucao decoction.The traditional Chinese medicine syndrome score,blood pressure,serum endothelin-1(ET-1)and nitric oxide(NO)levels were compared between the two groups before and after intervention.Results The scores of traditional Chinese medicine syndromes,blood pressure,serum ET-1(endothelin-1)and adverse reactions of the observation group were significantly lower than those of the control group,plasma NO(nitric oxide)levels of the observation group were significantly lower than those of the control group,and there had significant differences(P<0.05).Conclusion Chinese medicine Xiakucao decoction is effective in treating elderly patients with hypertension and can significantly improve the blood pressure level of patients.
