Modern Medicine Study on the Correlation between Kidney and Tooth of Traditional Chinese Medicine

Among the theories of hunman’s development process expounded by Plain Questions·Shanggu Tianzhen Lun,changes of kidney-qi influence tooth directly and this theory reflected on“tooth replacement”,“the growth of wisdom tooth and mature development of the body”and“physical damage”.In order to improve the theoretical system of modern Chinese medicine and further understand the relationship between kidney and tooth,the author,by referring to the relevant literature of Traditional Chinese and western medicine,explains the relationship between kidney and tooth from three aspects,namely physiology,pathology and treatment,according to the changes of tooth related to tooth chronology and tooth deciduous stage by virtue of the relevant theories of modern medicine.The preliminary conclusion is the role of kidney in tooth may be related to osteoprptegerin(OPG),and the rise and decline of kidney-qi is correlated with OPG level to some extent.
