Abstract:The wettability and blood adsorption of ion - implanted medicalpolyurethane were studied. St ion implantation was performed at energies of 40, 60, 80,100KeV with the doses ranging from 2 X 1013 to 2 X 1016ions/cm2 at room temperature.The wettability was investigated by contact angle measurement, the results showed thatthe contact angle or distilled water decreased from 82. 1 to 68. 8 degrees as the dose increased. The SEM photos showed that the Si -implanted sample with 2X 1014 ions/cm2was the best in blood adsorption, and its phase separation structure was also best. Theresults of ESCA indicated that the St ion beam brode up original chemical bonds in surface. These changes in structure may be the main reason of the surrace modification.
