The correlation between preoperative contrast-enhanced ultrasound and clinicopathological features,prognosis in patients with papillary thyroid cancer

Objective To study the correlation between preoperative contrast-enhanced ultrasonography(CEUS)and clinicopathological features,prognosis in patients with thyroid papillary carcinoma.lymph node metastasis,protease expression,survival without recurrence.Methods From February 2015 to April 2018,78 patients with papillary thyroid carcinoma who underwent total thyroidectomy+enlarged neck lymph node dissection at Chaoyang Second Hospital were retrospectively selected.Before surgery,CEUS was performed;clinicopathological features were evaluated by lymph node metastasis,protease MMP2 and MMP9 expression;prognosis was evaluated by follow up of recurrence.Results The lymph node metastasis rate,the positive expression rate of MMP2 and MMP9,and the postoperative recurrence-free survival rate of patients with CEUS high enhancement papillary thyroid carcinoma were significantly higher than those of equal enhancement and low enhancement,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The lymph node metastasis rate,the positive expression rate of MMP2 and MMP9,and the postoperative recurrence-free survival rate of patients with capsule invasion of papillary thyroid carcinoma were significantly higher than those of patients without capsule invasion,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The CEUS parameters TTP and MTT of patients with nodal metastasis were significantly lower than those in patients without lymph node metastasis,TTP and MTT of positive expression of MMP2 and MMP9 were significantly lower than those of patients with negative expression of MMP2 and MMP9(P<0.05).Conclusion CEUS correlates with lymph node metastasis,protease expression,no recurrence after surgery in patients with papillary thyroid cancer,which can be used for disease assessment.
