Effect of manipulative reduction and plaster fixation on inclination of palm and height of radial styloid process in Colles fracture

Objective To investigate the effect of manipulative reduction and plaster fixation on the metacarpal inclination angle and the height of radial styloid process in Colles fracture.Methods From May 2018 to May 2020,100 patients with Colles fracture patients admitted to the First Affiliated Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University were selected prospectively,and were divided into two groups according to the table of random numbers.The control group(n=50)were treated with plate resection and internal fixation.The observation group(n=50)were treated with manipulative reduction and plaster fixation.The overall effect,fracture and wrist recovery,complications were observed.Results The total clinical effective rate after treatment in the observation group was 90.00%,which was not statistically significant compared with 96.00%in the control group(P>0.05).The palm inclination angle after reduction in the observation group was(56.10±3.23)°,the ulnar deflection angle was(20.02±3.10)°,and the height of the radius styloid process was(8.37±1.30)mm,compared with the observation group before reduction[(41.06±1.18)°,(14.22±2.30)°,(11.38±1.24)mm],the difference were statistically significant(P<0.05),compared with the control group after reduction[(57.11±4.14)°,(21.01±2.17)°,(8.76±1.34)mm],the difference was not statistically significant(P>0.05).After treatment of the two groups of patients,the excellent and good rate of wrist joint function in the observation group was 94.00%,compared with 84.00%in the control group,the difference was not statistically significant(P>0.05).The total incidence of complications in the observation group was 14.00%,compared with 6.00%in the control group,the difference was not statistically significant(P>0.05).Conclusion The clinical effect of manual reduction and plaster fixation in the treatment of Colles fracture patients is good,and it can effectively improve the palm inclination angle and the height of the radius styloid process,and there are fewer complications.It is worthy of clinical application.
