Effects of Aceglutamide and Oxiracetam on NIHSS Score,MMSE Score and Levels of Serum VEGF and IGF-1 in Patients with Vascular Dementia after Cerebral Infarction

Objective:To explore the effects of aceglutamide and oxiracetam on National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale(NIHSS)score,Mini-Mental State Examination(MMSE)score and levels of serum vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)and insulin-like growth factor(IGF)-1 in patients with vascular dementia(VD)after cerebral infarction.Methods:102 patients with VD after cerebral infarction were selected and randomly divided into control group and observation group,with 51 cases in each group.The control group was given aceglutamide treatment,and the observation group was treated with oxiracetam on this basis.The degree of neurological impairment,cognitive function,psychobehavioral symptoms,cerebral hemodynamic changes and serum VEGF and IGF-1 levels were observed before treatment and after 14d of treatment.Results:After 14 d of treatment,the NIHSS score and Neuropsychiatric Inventory Questionnaire(NPI-Q)score in the two groups were significantly decreased(P<0.05),while the MMSE score was significantly increased(P<0.05).The average blood flow velocities of anterior cerebral artery(ACA)and middle cerebral artery(MCA)in the two groups were significantly increased(P<0.05),the levels of serum VEGF and IGF-1 in the two groups were significantly improved(P<0.05),and the changes in observation group were significantly greater than those in control group(P<0.05).Conclusion:Aceglutamide combined with oxiracetam can improve the neurological impairment,cognitive dysfunction and psychobehavioral symptoms,and upregulate levels of serum VEGF and IGF-1 in patients with VD after cerebral infarction.
