Abstract:Objective To discuss the efficacy and factors affecting the laser photocoagulation in treating diabetic retinopathy(DR).Methods 324 eyes of 186 DR patients were selected as the objectives received laser photocoagulation.Follow-up lasted for 4 to 24 months after surgery(16.2months on average).Results Of the 324 eyes,42 were improved(13.0%),215 remained unchanged(66.4%) and 67 worsened(20.7%).261 eyes were effectively controlled in DR,accounting for 80.6%.Efficiency of type I diabetic patients(53.8%) was significantly lower than that of Type II diabetic patients(81.7%),with P<0.05;that of high-risk proliferation DR patients(41.4%) was significantly lower than that of non-proliferation(90.3%) and early-phase DR patients(87.5%),with P<0.05;that of DR patients with glycosylated hemoglobin ≥8.0%(64.7%) was significantly lower than that of DR patients with glycosylated hemoglobin <8.0%(90.8%),with P<0.05.Conclusion Laser photocoagulation may effectively control the depravation of DR and protect the sight of patients.Factors affecting its curative effect include types of diabetes,DR phases and control level of diabetes.Time of using laser photocoagulation,early diagnosis,early treatment and active control of blood sugar are the keys to treating DR.
