An Application Study of Ice Water in Pathological Slice-Making

Objective To investigate applied value of ice water in pathological slice-making and techniques to improve the quality of HE slice-making.Methods The samples of human body from surgery were dehydrated,infused with wax,and embedded into wax blocks.After being treated with tap water,ice blocks and ice water respectively,the wax blocks were cut into slices.The slices were stained with HE dyestuff,and observed under light microscope.Results The wax slices made from wax blocks treated with ice water made a great difference from those made from blocks treated with tap water and ice blocks in its intact appearance,well-proportioned thickness,no superposition,rumpling,doffing slices,inanition and chapping or waving changes.Conclusion Application of ice water to pathological slice-making is feasible,and can improve the quality of HE slice-making.
