A Survey on the Sleeping Conditions and Its Influencing Factors in a PLA Unit Stationed in Xinjiang

Objective To investigate the sleeping conditions of a PLA unit in Xinjiang and to analyze its influencing factors. Methods 1483 officers and soldiers were surveyed by questionnaires, including Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index questionnaire （PSQI）, sleep behavior and its influencing factors, and general information questionnaire scale. Results The incidence rate of sleeping disorder was 38.7%. The physiological factors affecting sleep included epic dream and night mares （36.4%）, going to the toilet at night （22.5%）, pain （ 17.1% ）, cough （ 12.7% ）, snoring （9.3%） etc. The social and external factors were family problems （100. 0% ）, poor relationships with associates （96.9%）, love affairs and marriages （39.8%）, psychological trauma history （34.1% ）, and social support （32.8%）. The older the ofricers and soldiers were, the higher scores of PSQI and sleep time they had, and the worse the sleeping quality was （P 〈 0. 05, P 〈 0.01）. Conclusion It is necessary to pay attention to the sleeping disorders of the troops stationed in Xinjiang.
