Abstract: | We describe an unusual case of calcified cardiac mass in a patient seventeen years after Dacron patch closure of atrial septal defect. Presenting symptom was prolonged fever and after surgical excision the patient remains afebrile at one year of follow up. The clinical course and histopathological features were consistent with cardiac calcified amorphous tumor (cardiac CAT) Amorphous cardiac tumors are rare non-neoplastic cardiac masses, which are often indistinguishable clinically from true neoplasms. The surgical excision of these tumors is curative and recurrence is unknown. |
