| Abstract: | Scabies is an intensely pruritic dermatosis that is caused by a mite, Sarcoptes scabiei var hominis. Scabies is highly contagious and may have the pathognomonic sign of burrows in addition to erythematous papules. These lesions are often excoriated. In addition to classic scabies, special forms with distinctive clinical features exist. A variety of topical medications are available to treat the infestation. |
