Cardiac failure is a commonly - seen critical disease which is attributive to the category of "Xin Shuai" in TCM. Prof. Deng considered that the heart is involved primarily and other viscera secondarily in the disease with deficiency of heart -yang as the primary aspect and blood - stasis and fluid retention as the secondary aspect. Aiming at its pathogenesis, the principles of dealing with yin and yang individually, warming and invigorating yang - qi and combining disease with syndrome should be adopted.
