Low molecular weight heparin-induced skin necrosis occurring distant from injection sites and without thrombocytopenia

In this paper we report a case of 76-year-old white male patient with skin necrosis induced by subcutaneous prophylactic administration of low-molecular-weight heparin (LMWH). Skin necrosis occured distant from heparin injection sites and without concomitant thrombocytopenia. This is the first reported case presenting these clinical findings.
