Taking Nanjing Maternal and Child Health Care Hospital as an example,the authors explain how mater- nal and child health care hospitals of the third grade explore diversified development models to meet the challenge of ＂baby boom＂ in the new environment. They make maternal and child health care hospitals the core ,join the hospitals of the second grade and community health service centers in the region, take the measures for strengthening the assistance to district or county maternal and child health care institutes,establish the centers for health management,practice dual referral,make hospitals of the second grade in trusteeship, share medical resources, provide patients with service of different levels and mutual complementation, improve the applying efficiency of medical resources, and have the limited medical resources play the biggest role.
