Tamsulosin assisted semi rigid ureteroscopy for the treatment of upper ureteral calculi and security research

Objective To evaluate the fficacy and safety of tamsulosin asted semi-rigid ureteroscopic(URS)in the treatment of upper ureteral calculi.Methods A total of 282 adult pa-tients with upper ureteral calculi treated with semi-rigid URS lithotripsy werre selected in our urology department from October 2015 to February 2017.According to the random number table method,pa-tients were randomly divided into observation group and control group,with 141 patients in each group.The control group was treated routinely,and the observation group was treated with tamsulosin on the basis of routine treatment.The patients were ollowed up for 8 weeks and the elinical data,op-eration time,endoscopic stone removal rate,stoneless rate(SFR),success rate of treatment,and complication rate were compared between the two groups.Results The operative time and length of stay in the observation group were lower than that in the control group,and the difference was statisti-cally significant(P<0.001).In the observation group,stone removal rate and SFR were higher than those of the control group,and the diference was staistically significant(P<0.001).The incidence of complications in patients treated with tamsulosin was lower than that in the control group,and the difference was stitially significant(x²=10.893,P<0.001).Conclusions Preoperative admin-istration of tamsulosin in patients undergoing upper ureteral calculi with semi-rigid URS can improve ureteroscopic access to the upper ureteral calculi,thereby increasing the success rate of treatment.
