Multi-factor Analysis on the Occurrence of Type 2 Diabetic Neuropathy in the Elderly and Study on the Mechanism of Lipoic Acid Intervention

Objective To investigate the multi-factor analysis of the occurrence of type 2 diabetic neuropathy in the elderly and the mechanism of lipoic acid intervention.Methods A total of 310 elderly patients with type 2 diabetes who were admitted to the hospital from September 2018 to September 2019 were selected as subjects.They were grouped according to whether neuropathy occurred,and no neuropathy was used as the control group(n=109 cases).Neuropathy occurred as the observation group(n=201 cases).The data of the two groups were collected for comparative analysis,and the observation group was treated with lipoic acid.The basic data,biochemical indicators,and multivariate analysis of the two groups were compared,and the TSS scores before and after the intervention were compared.Results The analysis of basic data and biochemical indicators showed that the patient's age,course of disease,waist-to-hip ratio,SBP,DBP,FPG,FINS,HOMA-IR,HbA1c,TG,TC can all lead to neuropathy.The difference was statistically significant(P<0.05);Logistic regression analysis showed that the risk factors for neuropathy included the patient's age,course of disease,history of previous hypertension,smoking history,FPG,high TG and HbAlc,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05);the scores of pain,numbness,burning sensation,and paresthesia after the intervention were significantly lower than those before the intervention,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion The patient’s age,course of disease,previous history of hypertension,smoking history,FPG,high TG,and HbAlc are risk factors for the development of type 2 diabetic neuropathy in the elderly,and lipoic acid treatment can significantly improve symptoms.The intervention mechanism can improve the clinical symptoms of patients by reducing oxidative stress and regulate the nerve conduction velocity,which has broad application prospects.
