Investigation on the Correlation between Coping Style and Quality of Life in the Third Trimester of Pregnancy in Patients with Gestational Diabetes

Objective To explore the relationship between coping styles and quality of life in patients with gestational diabetes during the third trimester.Methods Convenience sampling was used in the obstetric outpatient clinics of three Grade-A hospitals in Guangzhou from August to December 2018,using self-designed general information questionnaire,health status questionnaire(36-SF),and simple coping style questionnaire(SCSQ)survey 124 cases of general information,quality of life and coping styles of gestational diabetes patients in the third trimester.Results The scores for each dimension of quality of life are as follows:physical function was(44.35±42.63)points,body pain was(86.56±11.92)points,overall health was(71.19±17.39)points,energy was(68.91±14.78)points,social function was(74.94±21.40)points,emotional function was(56.72±42.29)points,mental health was(71.13±13.64)points,the average score of positive coping dimensions was(24.36±6.05)points,and the average score of negative coping dimensions was(10.14±4.09)points.Among them,physiological function dimension(r=0.210,P<0.05),energy dimension(r=0.340,P<0.05),mental health dimension(r=0.240,P<0.05)and overall health dimension(r=0.310,P<0.01)were positively correlated with positive coping styles,and social function dimensions(r=-0.220,P<0.05)were negatively correlated with negative coping styles.In the multiple regression analysis,positive coping styles were related factors of physiological function dimensions,overall health dimensions,energy dimensions and mental health dimensions,which were statistically significant difference(P<0.05).Conclusion The coping style of gestational diabetes patients in the third trimester of pregnancy is dominated by theactive coping style.Multiple dimensions of the quality of life are related to the positive coping style,suggesting that the active coping style can help improve the quality of life of gestational diabetes patients.
