Effect of Proseal Laryngeal Mask Airway on the Atrial Natriuretic Peptide and Cortisol in Patients Undergoing Modified Radical Mastectomy

[Objective] To compare the effect of Proseal laryngeal mask airway （PLMA） vs endotracheal intubation（ET） combined with general anesthesia on atrial natriuretic peptide（ANP） and cortisol（COR） in patients undergoing modified radical mastectomy. [Methods]Forty ASA Ⅰ～Ⅱpatients were randomly divided into 2 groups with 20 patients in each. Group A underwent PLMA combined with general anesthesia, and group B underwent ET combined with general anesthesia. Heart rate（HR）, mean arterial pressure（MAP）, COR and ANP before intubation and before and after PLMA insertion and extubation were recorded. [Results] HR, MAP, COR and ANP in group A after PLMA insertion had no obvious change, while those in group B increased obviously. After extubation, the changes of HR, MAP, COR and ANP in group A were less than those in group B. Compared with before extubation, HR, MAP, COR and ANP in group B further elevated after extubation, and there was significant difference（ P 〈0.05）. [Conclusion] PLMA combined with general anesthesia for patients undergoing modified radical mastectomy can obviously reduce patients＇ stress response and keep the hemodynamic stability.
